Name: Pokemon Fire Red
Genre: RPG/Adventure
Release Date: July 7th, 2004

Overview: The game we all knew and loved is back- in a better way. The game Pokemon Red has been completely re-done in more than one way. The graphics have been revamped, the style has been altered to that of the most recent games (Ruby & Sapphire), and the complete core has been upgraded. The game features the same addictive gameplay: going around the world collecting and training Pokemon while attaining all 8 Gym Badges and beating the Elite 4, but what happens afterÖwell thatís a secret swink.gif. There isnít much to learn about the game if youíve played the previous games- but if itís been a while or you havenít played at all, you may want to consult the help system. Yes, now there is a help system which is activated by pressing L or R. Now, even a rookie can pick up this game and understand how to play it in mere minutes.

Graphics: 8/10
The graphics for this game are great. Sprite animation is beautiful in this game, and battle animations are something Nintendo should be proud of. Itís great to see the beauty of all sprite animation- even down to the core. There is no day and night, being that this was a remake of the old games so there is no watch either- unless you count the one that counts your game playing time. Even despite this, the graphics are gorgeous.

Sound: 6/10
The music is pretty good for a sprite game- but after a while it gets repetitive. Each area plays a certain music or beat thatís endless- it never changes. Some areas play the same sound, and they get boring after a while. If youíre playing this for a while, youíll be glad that the gameboy has a volume tuner.

Gameplay: 8/10
Itís the same addicting thing youíve known and loved for years- but better. Like I mentioned above- there is no day and night but that doesnít take away from the gameplay of the game save for a small fraction of night-time monsters and wee-morning monsters. Collecting all of the Pokemon, training them, and then facing endless trainers is something that takes hours of gameplay to achieve. Sadly, there IS limited paying trainers so eventually- youíll be forced to fight Elite 4 members for cash. Like all other previous Pokemon games, you canít get every Pokemon with just one version- you need to play them all. Therefore, itís in your best interest to find a friend who has the opposite game- just so you can solve two dilemmas with one answer. Trading Pokemon is easy enough, though you need a link cable. A small price to pay for adding onto Gameplay so large.

Replay: 6/10
Like any other game- I can imagine somebody getting bored with this game and setting it down, but thereís always the likelihood that youíll pick it up again just for the hell of it and start playing the s*it out of it again. The fact there are many monsters to train and collect is tempting- and itís a goal thatís achieved by many.

Overall: 7/10
While the game is great- it also shows flaws like any other game. The sometimes boring gameplay can get tiresome after a while, and the cutesy-ness of the game can get on some peopleís nerves. Despite all this, itís a fun game that doesnít require a whole lot of you to play.

I can't get past this one part on the game...I'd rather not.
