Software / Hardware: Maxthon Browser

What it is: It's a free enhanced version of MSIE with extensibility features (AKA Plugins, like Mozilla Firefox), tabs, sidebars, etc. It's very feature rich from what I can see, and has all the major components of Firefox, MSIE and Opera (besides the email client integration, which only bloats the software from my perspective). It generally uses the icons from MSIE with the default skin (which I think is pretty nice if you configure it correctly), and it has many security fixes from MSIE.

The build can be found on http://www.maxthon.com/ and is programmed by a development team in China (yes, China), and is funded by generous donations from happy users.

History: Go check their site. I'm not quite sure.

Experience:With over 30 million downloads (A majority of which are in Asia, obviously), it can't be wrong. I like it more than I like Firefox already! It consumes about half as much RAM as Firefox does, and a third the RAM Opera does: about the same as the normal IE browser, but this time with multi-tabs and other features.

By the way it comes with so many features, you won't be able to utilize all of them. I cleaned up the interface to leave only the important ones (that I always use) on the front. The rest are in the menus.

The sidebar is awesome too. It's just like Opera's except the button's at the top so it doesn't take up 8 more pixels on the left stongue.gif

Screenshot: Attached is the screenshot of my Maxthon browser after I closed a few toolbars so it takes up much less space.

Bad Points: Well, I can't think of any bad points except the fact that it's not opensource (Although it is free). Oh yes, and I can't seem to find the option to turn on the little X on the right corner to close the current tab, but I guess double clicking / middle clicking on the tab works too as a viable alternative.

Overall Rating: 8.5~9/10

Go try it out now!

I know, this is mainly for XP-, windows only I think

Just included the attachment which I apparently forgot.

Just look at it, CK. It's pretty neat. Why are you against IE specifically? I don't dislike IE because it's IE but because of the security holes and the missing features like tabs. And the hole's patched in this and the tabs and other features are all here.

Don't have Xp. I refuse to pay MS a s*it load of money for a single disc.
My Windows (* SE disc is broken now with a line going straight across it so if I have to reinstall again I going to be in trouble.

-Msie dies for no reason and gives me blue screen of death.
-I check my ad aware for spam and other such things and it lights up like friggin X-mas dispay. their security sucks
- I check for updates the first 5Mb are always security patches.
- I can't use anything higher then 6.0 now any how as if I try 6.5 Computer crashes hard.
-Microsoft is the spawn of satan and I didn't pay them money for X-box why would i give them money for an OS. I don't care if they gave me cash when I downloaded this new IE I'm not touching MSIE again. I should delete the vetrsion I already have as backup and use Netscape.

Whatever. I like it. There's no problems with feature, extensibility, skins, or even resource consumption.

Linux will have to wait a few years before I'll actually take it on actively, mainly because of the number of programs that won't work on it.

Plus I can't dl it unless i leave my comp on for like a few weeks.

Seriously if i hve to reinstall I might as well buy a new computer for the money it costs.
