In a world covered by endless water...

People are forced to eke out a living on the small patches of land that remain above the sea. The people of this world rely on ancient technology driven by quantum refractors, a powerful energy source. These refractors lie in ancient ruins underground and in the sea and are sought out by explorers called Diggers.

These brave explorers are the sole source of refractor energy which has become a cornerstone of the emerging civilizations. Originally, this was the Diggers' only purpose; to find refractors so that civilization would endure. However, over the years, the story of an incredible treasure, the legendary Mother Lode, began to be whispered among the Diggers.

The Mother Lode... A treasure so great that were it discovered, it would provide so much power that the world need never fear of running out of energy.

In search of this Mother Lode, Diggers travel from one island to another in their flying machines ever hoping that they'll find what they seek just over the horizon.

Hope…
Despair…
Charity…
Greed…
Duty…
Power…

Who can say what truly motivates the Diggers?

CAUTION: AT TIMES, THIS GAME WILL PORTRAY ITS CHARACTERS IN AN INTIMATE AND POSSIBLY SEXUAL NATURE. IN ADDITION, THERE MAY BE MOMENTS OF EXTREME VIOLENCE AND/OR BLOOD AND GORE. READER DISCRETION IS ADVISED.

This “water world” of sorts is called Terra. Our characters will be a team of Diggers who retrieve quantum refractors (powerful crystals that vary in size and color, used for energy) and then sell them to various companies, cities, and governments, while keeping an eye out for any hints to the whereabouts of the Mother Lode.

Under the surface of Terra are millions and millions of tunnels and caves, usually referred to as “Ruins”, because they are remnants of an ancient civilization: In the time before time, those that are now known as the Ancients created an enormous underground world, sometimes also referred to as the Underground. They created the crystals we call quantum refractors, and each crystal, depending on size and color, holds a certain amount of energy (see the refractor guide, below).

Diggers travel into the Underground and locate the refractors that where left there by the Ancients. However, this can be very dangerous, because the Ancients also left self-operating machines to guard the Underground, called Reaverbots. Reaverbots come in many shapes, sizes, and models, and will not stop defending the Ruins until they are disabled.

In addition to the technologies of the Ancients and their Underground Ruins, they must beware of air pirates, who prey on young Diggers and steal their refractors, and whatever treasures they may have attained on their last Dig (the act of going into the Ruins is called a Dig).

Travel between the many islands of Terra is primarily by air ship. Large, passenger-class ships transport people in the same manner that an airplane does, however, smaller, more agile ships are used by Digger crews and the like. There are also cruise ships and various other classes.

In some cases, when islands are very far away from one another, each one is controlled by a separate government. Single-city islands are run by a Mayor. Multiple-city islands have a Mayor for each city and then a Governor for the entire island. In some areas, however, a few islands are very close, and are all controlled by a President, who has a Governor for each island and a Mayor for each city. Even if some islands are independent, almost all Mayors and Governors communicate regularly with Presidents.

The biggest known leader is President Stephen Stoneguard, who controls the United Empire. The Empire is made up of islands close and far. Twelve Governors and nearly fifty Mayors, The United Empire is the biggest nation to date.

Also, I feel I should tell you a bit more about Digger crews. Normally, each crew consists of five Diggers and a Spotter, who stays on the surface and communicates with the team via radio. The Spotter can scan the Ruins, giving him/her a sort of radar, and can inform the Diggers if Reaverbots are near. Here is a link to the Reaverbot types used in the game.

Quantum Refractor Guide

Small: Can be used for cars and smaller ships.
Medium Small: Can be used for larger machines.
Medium: Can be used for warehouses and factories.
Medium Large: Can be used for smaller towns and cities.
Large: Can be used to power an entire city of a medium size.
Huge: Can be used to power enormous metropolises and massive machines.

Green: This color means the said refractor will die out quick.
Yellow: This color will last a but longer before running out of power.
Blue: This color will last a fairly long time.
Red: This color will last a very long time.
White: The most valuable and rare color. These last for years and years before burning out. A Huge or Large White Refractor has never been found as of yet (rumors suggest that the Mother Lode is a chamber full of Huge Whites).

I don’t want to leave you will many pages of stuff to read, so I will leave this part at this and if it’s needed, I’ll give you more info OOC.

So, I need five other players. Four will be Diggers, and one will be a Spotter. The six of us have just gained our Digger’s Licenses, and the game will start with us gathering at the air field in Liberty City, which is where we took the tests. We have just purchased a used air ship, the Flutter, and are preparing to set out for our first adventure. Also, a Spotter is still part of the Digger crew and therefore must have a Digger’s License as well.

Your backgrounds can be whatever you want, but just include that the six of us met when we arrived to take the Digger exam. The legal age of consent in this world is sixteen, therefore one must be at least that age to attain a License. Whether your character has just turned sixteen and got his License or he is older and pursued some other career before taking the exam is up to you. Either way, all six met during the twelve week Digger course.

On a side note, every month has twenty-eight days, meaning four weeks exactly. All holidays are still the same, however.

PM me your characters, but remember I need only four Diggers and one Spotter. You can look at my character for the format I’d prefer, and please send a character portrait, whatever it may be. The Character Database will be added as a reply to this. Also, the game is called MegaMan, but that does not mean you can be MegaMan. You’ll find out later on why I’m still using that title.

The current year is 1997 D.A. (Discovery of the Ancients) and it is the beginning of June.

Digger
Name: Maximilian McCloud (Played by Jeffinator)
Age: 16 (almost 17)
Birth Date: August First, 1980

Favored Weapon(s)
Starlight Saber, Buster Gun

Background
Max was born in the small village of Khimo on Wendermore Island after his mother moved there. He never knew his father, but Max was completely content with his mother. The two had a lot of fun together, whether she played ball with him in the yard or he helped her in the Junk Shop -- That was how they made their living; they ran a Junk Shop in the village, and their apartment was above it.

By the age of ten, Max had become quite the mechanic. He had even created his own little droid from a bunch of spare parts. He programmed the droid to help his mom while he was at school, and presented it to her as a birthday gift. His room was littered with all kinds of gadgets and gizmos of his own creation, and he began to dream of seeing the Ruins of the Underground, becoming a Digger, and witnessing the technology of the Ancients.

When Max turned sixteen, he was all ready to go to Liberty City and begin his three months of Digger Training, and had even built himself and his best friend Wil Argent power suits, but at the same time the Science Fair was to be held, so he stayed behind and won First Place for his Scouter, a little machine that is placed on the ear and a green square lens covered the left eye. Through this lens, it was possible to scan Reaverbots, Droids, and Reploids and get a power reading. He would have become filthy rich off this invention, but it was stolen and then patented by Vipervex Enterprises.

When Max and Wil (who's X Buster was built by Max) finally made the long trip to Liberty City and began the Digger Training Course, they made friends with a few of his fellow trainees. They finished the training, took the D.S.E. (Digger Selection Exam), obtained a Digger’s License, and put their money together to buy a small broken down air ship, the Flutter. Max fixed it up, and the crew are now preparing to take flight from the Liberty Air Field.

Name: Ella Gibbs (Played by DessiDumpling)
Age: 16

Digger
Name: Wil Argent (Played by Raven)
Age: 17
Birth Date: September Nineteenth

Favored Weapon(s)
X Buster (Cybernetic arm weapon)

Background
Wil was born to a family of diggers, and spent most of his life helping out on some of his father's digs. Unfortunately, one of those digs cost him his real arm. His father, however, lost his life in the dig. Wil was also punished with the inability to get his Digger's License till he was 17. He, however, opted to wait. He was given a prosthetic arm, and he made one stipulation. It had to have a built-in weapon, so he could protect his other one. He opted for a high energy blaster, and has only just reentered the Digger's scene. A friend of his, Max, made the weapon for him, as well as a suit of armor to go with it. The armor triples the power of the energy blaster, turning it into a cannon. Thus, Wil spent a lot of time training in marksmanship so he could help his friend on digs.

Well, it looks like some other eople may be interested. Even if we reach our six players, go ahead and submit your character anyway. If I have it before the weekend, you may be considered. However, the absolute maximum I want is eight players other than myself.

Okay all, so far we have three diggers and a spotter, and a fourth digger on the way, who is in the process of finishing up his character. We MAY have a sixth character, but most likely we'll be starting with just the five. No matter what, I will make the first In Character post tomorrow evening (Saturday).

Okay all, the game starts today. I am making the first story post in about an hour from now. If you do not have your characters completed and to me within an hour, you'll have to wait till later on to play. You have all had plenty of time to complete them.

~~~ June 1997 D.A. ~~~
Max awakened from his deep slumber, his eyes still a bit blurry. His eyes adjusted to the darkness of his hotel room, the only source of light being the lamps in the hallway that shone ever so slightly under the door of his room. He loved the darkness, but knowing that today was the day they set off for their first Dig, and given the fact that he wanted to do another maintenance check on the Flutter before they left, he forced himself out of bed, reached for his lamp, and turned it on. The room was small indeed, with two twin beds, the other of which lied the sleeping Wil, Max’s best friend. He didn’t mind turning on the lamp, because Wil’s face was turned to the wall anyway.
Ten minutes later, Max turned the lamp back off and left the room quietly, wearing blue jeans and a white t-shirt. He took the elevator down to the ground floor if the Golden Eagle Inn, then walked the six blocks to the shipyard. Once there, he signed in at the office and went to prepare the ship. The team had already loaded all their things into the ship the night before, and all max had slept in was his boxers, so that he could just pull on his clothes and shoes and everything else of his was already on the Flutter.
Max climbed the ladder on the side of the ship to a large steel door on the middle level. He opened it, and stepped inside. He was in a long hallway, with several doors along the inside wall and a long window along the outer wall, showing the shipyard and the city beyond. Each of these doors lead to a single bedroom, where each of the team would be staying. The door at the very back of the Flutter lead to a bathroom. Beyond that, there were two sets of stairs, one leading up and one leading down. The one leading down went to the engine room and cargo storage, the one leading up went to the Lounge, which had two doorways leading off it to the Kitchen and Dining Room, as well as a second bathroom. At the very front of the Flutter was the Bridge, which spanned two floors: The main entrance was on the middle level, just past the bedrooms, but the Bridge could be seen from the upper level as well via a balcony. There was also a small set of stairs that lead down from the Lounge. The Bridge had several computer panels and monitors, as well as a giant metal wheel for steering manually when needed. The front of the Bridge was a massive glass window, which was as long as the ship and tall enough to be seen through from the Lounge. From the upper level, there was a ladder that led to the roof of the Flutter, which was flat and lined with a railing.
Max made his way down to the engine room, and began his diagnostics. Soon the other would wake and come down, and then they would be off.
Hades had a restless night, like most of her nights. The blankets that covered her were strewn across the floor, and half the pillows were mixed within the sheets.
Done with sleep she slipped out of bed and grabbed her jeans, as well as her white tank top. With ease she slipped out of her PJ bottums and into the jeans. The tank top was just slid on easily, since she didn't sleep with a shirt.
Ready to go, she slung her PJ bottoms over her shoulder and headed for the Flutter. Stopping at her room on it first to throw her PJ bottoms onto her bed before heading down to the engine room, since that was where Max would most likely be at.
Wil woke up slowly, and yawned, stretching. His mechanical arm whirred slightly at the movement, the servos warming up after a night of rest. He flexed his arm, testing its movement, then changed it into the cannon, before letting it revert to normal. He pulled on his usual clothes, a black tank top and a pair of black slacks, and grabbed his bag, which had his only belongings outside the ship in it. He got up, and headed for the ship, stopping long enough to get breakfast with what little cash he had on him, and then climbed on board. He tossed his bag down in his room, before heading for the engine room. He tossed Max a sandwich, and then handing him a bottle of juice. He also tossed one to Hades, and sat down on a barrel.
"When do the others get here? Are we going to be waiting for a while?" With that, he buried his face in his breakfast, eating his sandwich quietly. He paused only occasionally to drink from his own bottle of juice, which was sweetened orange juice.
Hades nodded her thanks in approval, not much into the mood for speaking. She took a seat in one of the empty chairs and began to eat the sandwhich, her mind going into a zoned out state as she continued to eat.
Wil raised an eyebrow, then shrugged, and finished off his sandwich. He sipped his juice again. Then he set the bottle down, and pulled out a small toolkit, and started to work on his arm. Max had made it, but Wil had studied everything about it while he did so.
"Is Ella sleeping in?" Hades nearly mumbled as she took a sip of her drink.
