Go to your Board Settings in the User Control Panel and you'll see brand new settings on the bottom. If you didn't like the side-menu before, you can remove it from sight. If you want a simplified topic view, you can select that too. If you want to see more than 15 posts on the latest-topics list, you can also change that.

There are more to be added, so be warned ssmile.gif

My opinion is that at least things are cutomisable now. It really doesn't seem to be any benefit to disabling the side-menu - just means I have no links instead of awkward links o_0
