I've added new functionalities to the two new icons (the monitor icon, which links to the User CP, and the pie-chart icon, which loads forum stats) and the pre-existing Item Shop icon (the folder with a dollar sign next to it). Now, I have delegated all menu functions to the side-menu, so that even while reading this post, you can load the User CP menu by mousing over the Desktop Monitor icon, and you can load the list of Item Shop categories (and whatever else is on the menu) by mousing over the Shop icon!

Among those features moved to the side-menu are the active-in-topic and active-in-forum statistics and overall board stats, which now load under the pie-chart icon.

Do not fret too much if you didn't like the icons in the first place; I will code in many of the functionalities to load as it did before. But for now, just enjoy the nifty icons.

I've updated both the Style Sheets and the Javascript files, so if something looks awkwardly strange (design and style: style sheets) or does not work (functionality: Javascript files), do a complete reload (CTRL+R).

I still don't like the actual buttons (but then, I don't like much about the graphics on this place, including the smilies - <_< look, he looks too grumpy), but I'm glad I can get to the bank quicker at least p_0

(In case you're wondering, p_0 isn't a typo - it is o_0 with a monicle!)

Indeed. What I mean is, I think in accordance with these new changes, we could do with getting some proper graphics in here.

I personally love the smilies used at http://thecenternetwork.com - they are comical and potray the true feelings of the smilie.

The side-menu icons are.. well, functional. But they don't look particular nice, or even as if they are in a set. They just seem like random images.

My point is - I think we could do with a complete graphical overhaul, even if it means outsourcing someone for the job.

Well, you know, I can't be doing everything so if you want to take up the task of finding applicable graphics, go ahead. But we need someone whose dedicated job is in graphics. Plus, being an admin, you should be able to work with emoticon packages. My hands are full, but from what I can see, you have tons of time to spare.

So you are giving me carte blanche to work on the graphics?

If you agree, I will source some new smilies first, put up some polls to get people's opinions, implement them and then talk to some people in getting us a graphics/skin overhaul.

Sure, as long as you don't make any drastic changes I can't undo short of restoring a backup. It'd be nice if we had multiple smilie packages to work with. The current one's getting old.

I've been looking at phpBB Olympus's face-like smilies. They look pretty neat.

New smileys would be great.

Of course, I will be abusing them to no end after lent. (I know, go ahead and ridicule me, but not using smileys does help improve one's writing and require one to be more thoughtful when they spew out rhetoric. So hush.)
