We are all aware of it, the fact that all of a sudden Emos are now being scorned by society.

What I want to know is how did this come about? Last year it was Goths, and before that it was Nerds. Nowdays, you could label heaps of things emo because they seem that way.

What does everybody else think of this situation? I am no longer safe to listen to Panic at the Disco, because I'm fearful of being branded an emo and the like.

Discuss.

Thanks for merging them. I'm sorry I didn't look for another topic first. After reading it, I believe I may conclude those supposedly "emo" where I am truly are whatever that's supposed to mean.

mmmkay. Now originally emo kids were nonconformists who went to thrift stores, bought old outfits, and "modified" them into stuff that looked very...out of the ordinary. In fact, wearing black was not even in the norm for oldschool emo kids. However now that MTV, and hot topic have gotten their hands on the trend that have taken 5 emo kids, copied their clothing, hairstyles, and facial structure, and sell them at every hot topic store, and show them on every MTV channel. Originally it was about nonconformity, now it is about pseudo-depression which is a shame, because it takes away attention from kids that actually have problems. I have depression, but I ignore it, and work out, and had counseling, and I'm fine. I find it very weird that the modern emo (the older emo, before it was a fad is NOT to be confused with your modern, garden variety emo) cant just find some kind of outlet, and maybe get more exercise, and eat right, and sleep for a reasonable amount of time. You would be surprised what those things can do for your mood.

I totally agree - exercise even in small doses can relieve depression. Something like 15-30 minutes 3 times a week is suggested for that purpose. These neo-emos need to get outside.

Stress is best beaten by exercise.
