Here are what I think are the top ten most dominating high-scores in the arcade (yes they are in ranked order):

QUOTE
10) Asteroids - lilhurt // 59,310

9) Pacman - viral dragon // 152,010

8) Tetris - viral dragon // 223,668

7) Lightning Break - Garlic Junior // 37,807

6) 12many - Jinghao // 416

5) piljard - Singularity // 8

4) Monster Hatch - Singularity (+Odd) // 2,779

3) Curveball - Odd // 35,005

2) Nelinurk - Singularity // 13,649

1) Collapse - Kiro/Brian // 6,666

To come up with these, I weighed the following criteria:
--Score duration (how long it has stood)
--Possible score duration (how long it might stand)
--Closest score (how high the 2nd place score is comparatively)
--Magnitude (projected difficulty)

==UPDATED as of 3/16/09==

Asteroids has made the top ten based on score duration alone...so maybe that will motivate one of you to BEAT IT. A couple other scores have moved up the list, and all have been updated/removed/added based on the same criteria as before. Monster Hatch and piljard are also technically tied, but the newer addition must be placed lower. Sing's new Nelinurk score would be #1, but for some reason I no longer feel anything is unbeatable in that game. Collapse is still the most impressive score.

You may argue your points on certain games, but I have an answer for most of them. I eliminated most of them by total times played by all the members, and others (like Hexxagon) by replication or possible cheating. Many of the games in the arcade haven't been played very much, and any real effort by a member could earn him/her a high-score.

Anway....Enjoy. sbiggrin.gif

I assuming number of times played is why I didn't get the #1 spot? I'd like to argue that the game primarily takes skill, and that GJ's NeliNurk score is beatable because you can take any amount of time to beat it. Mine, however, is Godly. o.o

I mean, seriously, this is the highest score on the internet that I've ever seen. I even went to the site where the game is from and no one's beaten it. Granted, they have come close, but that's not here, and that's from the guys who tested the game, and play these things constantly. Even still, my score truly dominates anything the internet has seen so far.

I actually think these are fair ratings, the only ones I would switch are NeliNurk and Collapse, simply because I actually feel like I can get the Neli Nurk score. I want to get NeliNurk, then Curveball. After I get those two, I will turn my focus to Collapse.

I'm glad 3D highway made the list, maybe now people will aim for it.

I think this thread is going to spawn a lot of rivalry... Let the games begin again!

I think it's interesting, really..

The first arcade battle ended up with GJ and myself in the top two spots there.. The relics of the past, and all that.

Well, hopefully if Garlic comes back, we can have a 4-way brawl. I definitely have the versatility, but I need to get more top games and dominating scores.

Nelinurk has its own difficulty, in that it takes loooong-term problem solving abilities which are beyond most people. It's like a never-ending game of chess if you play it right, but that becomes exhausting. Collapse can last a very short amount of time.

Good luck with Curveball by the way. It's the most-played game in the arcade (I believe) and the score has stood for over two years. It's one of the few games that requires actual physical skill beyond speed clicking. <_<

3D Highway made the list because of the score comparisons. The next highest is 40 away, which is quite a bit.

I'm also surprised nobody called out the placement of my own scores, o_o. Does that mean you agree my 12many score is godly? XD

Well, assuming you didn't cheat, your 12 many score is impressive. Simon might be out of place, anyone who can utilize memorization techniques effectively can obtain a good score. But it won't be done easily.

While I'm at it, I'll just comment on all of the games you listed.

3D highway is a game of pure skill, there's really no getting lucky, and right when you get to around 180, which no one else has, it is going so fast that it's hard to have conscious awareness of the objects, in the high 190's, I think I scored 197, 198, 199, and 200, so it is difficult to increase by even just a little bit at that point, and you get to a point where you're literally unable to dodge them, which since 200 is a nice even number, that could be it.

Lightning Break is a game I suck at. I only held the top score for a while because only 3 people played it. Garlic Junior owned everybody at that game.

Tetris, basically, that guy came for one day, demolished the score, and left, so I'd imagine that he could do even better, but still, I don't see anyone else beating that any time soon. Garlic is probably capable, but his other Tetris score, from what I've gathered, was during intense practice and concentration, while eong took it like nothing.

Simon is a game where once your short term memory runs out, you need to use techniques, which you can get better at. Usually, when you lose, you just did something stupid. That game is so easy to cheat at though, so that's a tough one.

12 Many, I tried to do well, but just couldn't. Sure, you can cheat, but after a while, even cheating becomes difficult when it flashes at the point where you can barely detect anything. Your score is way ahead of the rest.

Monster Hatch, you have to be fast to get 2778, and insane to get 2779. It may not even be plausible that a human being could get 2780, but I attempt to do so every one in a while, I just have to figure out the puzzle again.

Pacman, I've seen scores online that could kick my ass, we could easily get a newb to come and decimate it. John was the only one who even came close, and even so, his score would be dominating if not for mine. I mean we go from 40,000 to 80,000 to 100,000, and almost lose sight that a 20,000 point difference is a lot in that game. I don't think any of our current members are capable of beating it. I'm still in-practice though, that will not be my final score.

Curveball is tough. A 1,000 point difference at that point is a ton. I have been working on it, but haven't even come close. Everyone tries to get that, but to no avail.

Collapse will not be beaten. I am confident that Brian's score is the highest in the world. It is also based on luck to a degree, so in most games, it's not even possible to get that score.

Neli Nurk has the most hype to it. Collapse is close, and Curveball and Pacman follow accordingly. But if anyone beats NeliNurk, or Collapse, it will be revolutionary. These scores have been bragged about so much, and safely so, that every head will turn when one or the other is beaten. Curveball next. Pacman, I've bragged about, but since it's a fairly new score, there's not as much hype.

12many - I didn't cheat obviously...you can break 500 without trying very hard if you cheat (as Jingy proved before I deleted the score). On games like this, and Simon, I own, because I have near photographic memory in the short term. In fact, I could probably beat my current scores with a bit of effort.

On the problem solving games, I'm good, but I'm just not on par with some of you. Hexxagon is the perfect example...I just beat my old score by six while trying to attain a perfect score, but I cannot forsee myself succeeding in matching GJ.

Monster Hatch may be an exception, but it's the only game with a set pattern that never changes, so it's limited. Our scores are probably the maximum possible, just like the perfect scores in Hexxagon.

Tetris and Pacman are my least favorite games in the arcade barring Maeda Path (curses)....but if I ever cared to play them a second time, I could destroy my current scores without much effort.

Lightning Break is 50/50 between luck and skill. The rules are not like regular pool, and the game physics are unrealistic (though not like piljard). That game takes time and practice that I'm just not willing to put in, stongue.gif.

Curveball is insane. I was present for the setting of the score, and I haven't been able to beat it in my last 70-80 tries, even if I did manage to beat my own score a couple times.

Nelinurk I won't even mess with. I took me a little over an hour to set my 3000+ score....so I'm not willing to take a shot at GJ's 9000+ mark.

Collapse is second only because luck plays a slightly larger role than in Nelinurk, and to me, both scores are equally impressive when compared to other scores, and their duration.

What about my Reaktor score? That's pretty dominating, now that I look at it.

I forgot about that game. It doesn't progress....it didn't make the list for the same reasons Breakout didn't make the list. My score on it is 90, and I've only played it once. o_o It was the second most pointless game I'd ever played. You just reminded me that Maeda Path AND Reaktor are my least favorite games in the arcade. x_x

I tried my hand at Tetris for the first time in a long while...and I improved to 20th, XD. I could probably break the top ten, but my patience would be tested again, and beyond Simon, I have none. FROWN.GIF

I think we need to get some more games. I wish we had minesweeper.
