I'd like to start out by saying that I basically scrapped the old basis for the RP, meaning it will no longer have anything remotely to do with our clans, or the old planet that I believe Jingy designed. This RP is meant to be original (at least I hope), while still keeping the idea of using real-life friendships and forum names as the basis for interaction. Keeping in mind that you can adapt to these supposed limitations, you must realize that there are actually very few restrictions for this RP. You have the freedom to do anything you want as long as you don't break the "rules" of the RP. Also, please remember to turn off your signatures when you post in this RP. Now, let's start this up, shall we?

The New O33 - Timeshift

->Message Log - Entry: 7/18/09; 6:33 PM
As I write this, my team and I are preparing to open the door to another dimension. We are all excited, to say the least, as this will be the single greatest scientific achievement in history. This opens the door to understanding our universe, which was previously believed to be impossible. If successful, we may even be able to unlock the secret to....time travel. I am trying not to get my hopes up though, as this experiment could fail miserably.

As a side note, our containment of this experiment is more important than its success, which is where most of our real preparation is being focused. Then again, if we do everything right, containment won't be necessary. We are simply safeguarding ourselves from our own mistakes.

->Message Log - Entry: 7/18/09; 8:42 PM
We are moments away from attempting to open the door. This message isn't even important. I'm just nervous. I suppose this log can serve to inform people if this turns out to be a mistake.

->Message Log - Entry: 7/18/09; 8:49 PM
It's incredible. The door has been open for several minutes now, and the energy feedback is astonishing. As a power source, opening the dimension could be immensely helpful to the world's future power supply. Containment is holding well.

->Message Log - Entry: 7/18/09; 8:53 PM
There was a minor containment problem that lasted approximately 7 seconds. As a precaution, though there seems to be no danger of a breach, we are shutting down the experiment for now.

->Message Log - Entry: 7/18/09; 10:02 PM
The door was open for precisely 9 minutes and 22 seconds. During this time, we recorded an astonishing amount of energy. The enormous amount of data is going to take weeks to analyze. At the moment, all we know is that it appears as though it is safe for further experimentation.

I am very proud of what we have accomplished.

->Message Log - Entry: 7/18/09; 11:06 PM
We decided as a group to open the door again. All previous precautionary measures are still in place. The containment field is functioning at 98%, which is easily enough for another test. This makes me feel a little greedy, but who wouldn't be feeling this way? This whole thing is incredible.

"This is insane."

Fear and anxiety were clouding his thoughts. What he saw before him was clearly impossible. Even though he prided himself on being able to keep a sharp and open mind, he found himself unable to come to terms with what he was looking at.

The boy who called himself Odd was staring out his window at the edge of a cliff which overlooked a lake that stretched nearly into the horizon. It was a beautiful scene, but that was not Odd's problem. His problem was that, until he had gone to bed the night before, his window had looked out upon the face of an apartment building, which mirrored the one in which he himself was living.

After staring at the sight for almost ten minutes, Odd finally peeled his eyes away from the window and dashed to the other side of the room. He tore open the door, and looked down the hall to the window that usually looked out into the alley of the neighboring complex. Even from a distance, he could tell he was not seeing the usual brown-brick exterior to which he was accustomed.

As he slowly approached the window, he began to realize he was instead looking into the dense foliage of what appeared to be a forest. Without hesitation, Odd teleported back into his apartment and turned on the TV, only to find that, while the TV seemed to be working, there were no stations to watch.

"What the f*ck!?" shouted Odd, who was beginning to think he going crazy, "I have to find someone else. There has to be someone else who's seeing this."

-----

Date: 07-19-2011
Starting Time: 8:09 am

"Two years ago today." Odd mumbled to himself, "Seems like it should be longer than that."

Even if two years had passed, it may as well have been an eternity with the changes that had taken place in the world he had once thought of as normal. He had investigated, to the best of his abilities, the "incident" almost endlessly for the first few months. Even then he had come up with next to nothing about what had happened. All he knew then was that where he was now was not where he had been 24 months previously. The only explanation he could come up with was that he and his apartment building had been sent to another dimension somehow. Strangely enough, none of the other tenants had been sent with him.

At first Odd had thought this was some kind of backlash from his unique power. His abilities could have been one explanation for his predicament. Then he had found someone.

During his first year in this new place, he had discovered many new towns and cities and people. The people, as far as he could tell, were normal, but nobody knew anything about the places he described while trying to find out about the incident. They all seemed clueless about the Earth he had known and loved. The people here all called this place 'Origin', and looked at him strangely when he spoke of other planets and alternate dimensions.

Then, after one year and two months, not long after he had accepted this new place and began trying to fit in, he found someone who understood his questions. At the time, it had appeared that the woman had just arrived in this place. She had been scared and confused, just as Odd had been. After getting just two of his questions answered, the woman had run from him. By the time he had tracked her down, she had taken her own life. Depressed for more than one reason, Odd had continued on, thinking repeatedly about her answers.

"Do you know what happened to Earth?" he asked the panicked woman.
"I...I....There was an accident a while back." she managed to say, "Th...There was an accident during an exper...experiment dealing with opening other dimensions."
"And?"
"The world...had been...it was like places just shifted in time randomly." she continued, "People disappeared....entire cities were replaced by...other things..."
"But do you know where we are now?" he asked, worried.
"I....no....NO I DON'T!" she screamed, as if suddenly remembering what had happened.

That was when she had run.

Not long after her appearance, maybe a few weeks, things started happening here as well, making him understand what 'other things' meant. It didn't take long for Odd to realize that the dimensions were slowly merging with each other. Still, the differences between this dimension and the one where Odd had come from were significant enough as things were. In this place, Origin, his power did not seem as out of place as it had before. Here, there were many people with unusual powers...and their numbers increased once the timeshifts began.

The shifts were also less dramatic than the ones on Earth had apparently been. Here, they occured about once every week or so, adding new landscape and occasionally bringing new beings along for the ride. As can be expected, the additional or new territory was highly sought after. After just the fourth 'shift', groups of people originally from this plain of existence began fighting over the land. The fighting escalated after each new shift, eventually dragging many innocent people into the conflicts. In addition, the new beings brought to this world were almost always dragged into hte fighting as well. Most were killed...but those with the ability to fight back and win, did so.

Three groups rose from the conflicts. One of them was known as the RT, or Rift Takers. Odd considered them to be the 'bad guys', if that could be said, as they were aggressive in their occupation of the new land, and tried to kill whatever they found there. Very rarely did they capture the beings they discovered, but the few they had imprisoned had earned them the simple nickname, the "Takers".

The second group, self titled "The Shield", were the 'good guys'. While their goal was the same as the RT, they were more of an occupational group that preferred to passively take control of the new land. If they found any foreign beings on the land, rather than killing them off, they tried their best move them away without conflict.

The third group was an assortment of the beings that had been transported in the shifts. Whether they were prisoners, free roaming, or dead bodies, they were all considered to be part of the group. The Shield, in their attempts to stay on better terms with the beings named the group the Animalian Guild. The name confused Odd though, as a clear majority of the beings in the group were human or humanoid variations. The Takers, who cared nothing about their relations with the outsiders, named the group the "Others". While not siding with the Takers, Odd felt that this name fit them better.

The Others, while small in number, were the true victims of the timeshift conflicts. Odd chose to side with them.

All of you should put some thought into this before you jump in. Obviously, I want you all on THIS plain of existence....this dimension. Your history can be whatever you want it to be, and you can join any of the three groups mentioned above, so long as you end up with the rest of us, on the Outer 33rd Dimension.

For reference to what the actual world is like, I ask that any new RP'ers who aren't familiar with the old O33 or Trilogies please go read some of the posts from the original topics (links below). If you still need help, PM me about what the setting will be like for this story. Just know now that we will be working with some kind of combination of modern and medieval technology....as in guns and swords.

She was a weed; a creature that sucked on the evils of the world, fed herself fat on the fear of others, even her own. She thrived in the darkest holes, relishing the disgusted sneer of passerby as it clearly reflected the self-loathing that had long-ago contaminated her heart. Like a weed, she flourished in that negative attention, that dispassionate dismissal. Vicereine fulfilled no expectations, but once faced with such things, she wilted, drowned by the very sunlight, the very water that nourished the florals she strangled.

The weed would dry out, its motivation killed in that awful moment of forgiveness. Her emotions were cold, suppressed and hidden under layers of fortification - to not feel would keep her sickness intact. To remain dismissive, uncaring, indifferent in the face of human kindness, she would thrive, survive as the weed would. Her florals were the superstitious human race - and yet once this creature urged her to some path she refused to follow, she folded. Much like the dispirited weed no longer feared by the gardener, she began to die, her will breaking, her control running rampant.

Shadowflare had urged her to feel - to release the anger inside of her. What he had not known was that she felt so much more than anger. She had been human - once. Those emotions were habitual, they remained saturated in her blood, a legacy of fear, passion and sorrow. He released these, and the years of supression had overwhelmed her, turned her into a needing, feeling thing and the affliction that harried her mind and body ate her from the inside out. Her sense of touch evaporated - numb fingers scraping against the floor, the coldness of metal no longer burdensome to her knees when she fell. Her eye, its pupil contracted, a pinpoint that struggled to focus on Shadow, could no longer express itself. Her soul could not be reached through her body. She locked up tight, feeling her neck grow weaker, the weight of her head bringing her down, down so that she looked at the floor. Weak, repulsive. Yes, this Shadowflare expected her to grow some backbone, some form of anger that would rival his own. He expected and she failed. It was a pattern she had followed even in her human years.

The laugh that gurgled in her throat as her lungs contracted in humor almost choked her. If she could have choked. Her neck convulsed, the bile rising as she vomitted in her laughter, a strange hissing sound as chunks of flesh flowed over her tongue and fell to the floor. Her head felt so heavy she did not think she could raise it.

Fingers clawed at the metal ground, the very bone screeching as she lurched forward. She heard though - those awful words. Human - was she still human? She treasured his hatred, felt it enfold around her, the disdain - no the utter revulsion in him coating her insides. She used it as a weapon, soaking up his tone through her pores.

She fed and fed, not a physical thing, but using it as a shield. Yes, she was disgusting, yes, yes worthless. She almost rocked with the chant she coated her mind with. Contradictory, horrendous - pitiful ... yes yes yes. The control began to rebuild, she pulled herself together. Caught in time, it was as if she were a picture of timelessness; a momentary relief of decay, a pause as Time opened his heavy lidded eye and blinked at her, watched her as she physically rewound time. Slower than the decay she healed ... began to reknit the muscles she did not know existed, sewn through the organs that had ripped asunder.

Almost as bad as the decay, the stench was worse - she vomitted again, her body expunging the rot inside of her, her neck convulsing as her lips reformed, skull slowly being wrapped in flesh, skin hidden under the grime of her fleshy tears. She almost continued to rock, fingers so tight against the ground. Feeling returned ... so slow ... too slow.

She hitched a sob, lungs, stomach contracting; a hiccup of disgust before the last of her emotions folded away. Emotionless, nothingness - she wrapped this around her like a blanket, a shield to keep the world at bay. Her one eye hardened, the emotions that played along the iris disappearing as her pupil expanded, focusing with sharp intent. Vicereine lifted her head, her voice still rough, as if she had been crying for hours - soon it would be back to normal. "f*ck you." she nearly growled, her voice descending a few levels before her stomach contracted and she doubled over again vomitting - inky blackness puddled at her knees, streaking down her arms as she helplessly rocked forward her forehead nearly pressed to the cool metal floor.

If only she had rotted until death. Would she ever have the courage? Would her mind ever rot, or would she be nothing but a disconnected, yet clearly aware organism. Would she ever heal from such a thing. Her mind raced, the emotions folded away - all traces of hope, terror, the awful anger, sadness ... the color scheme of beautiful human emotions dulled to a transparent grey. Grey was safe. Grey was living.

As much as Vicereine could live.

"f*ck you" Oh those words, how much pleasure they brought to him. He grimaced in the usual sadistic manner once more.

"Heh heh heh, really?" His back still turned he agged her on once more. "I feel such coldness in that blackened heart now, very good." Once more he chuckled madly. "Now, STAB ME!"

"So what are you going to do then?"

Mia gripped the object tighter now, as if it would protect her from the questions. She had not expected the other girl to leave so suddenly. It became apparent that Mia had stepped into something between these two that she would have been better off avoiding. This time however, an answer was required.

"I don't really know." she answered, only partially hiding the truth, "But I think protecting Dani would be in both of our best interests."

Having barely finished her sentence, Mia was struck by a sense of dread, panic, and sadness that nearly overwhelmed her. Knowing the feelings were not hers, Mia began wondering which one of her new friends was experiencing this internal anguish. Unfortunately, Vicereine was Mia's only companion that was unaccounted for. It struck her as odd that she hadn't noticed until now that her friends had been separated.

"But wait," Mia added while pretending to look around aimlessly, "Where is Vicereine?"

((Ugh. I'm floundering...trying to figure out what direction I want to take..))

"Where is Vicereine?"

The question didn't really strike Roger until now. Even over the ride of a considerable duration to where they were now, Roger was only focused on having safely gotten Dani back with him and the sudden reappearance of this other girl. "Well, she's not here. She's either safe, or out wandering in the woods near the lake. Either way, I'd say she's safe given her swordsmanship." Roger didn't want to give much detail about his refashioned underground safe room and surveillance center until they were all actually there, this being his ultimate goal for the time being as it was the only sure way to escape the havoc, so as not to leak anything where or to whom it ought not be said. "Protection! Yes. You stay here." He half-motioned for her to get into the vehicle while half running away in the other direction after Dani.

((That's ok... I tried to give you a little flexibility here.))

"Don't move-- I'll try to get you out of there."

Danielle looked over the shattered rubble of what once had been a house. Bleeding and barely visible, a man moaned in pain. It was a total mess. The man was still alive, and she needed to help him soon. She reached into her bag and took out a glimmering red crystal. She tried to keep it hidden from sight.

You can't be serious....

The air around her convulsed. Smoke warped toward the object she held violently as it drew substance from the air. One pulse. Another, stronger. A third, stronger yet. Cracks appeared in the earth beneath her feet. The voice in her head coughed repeatedly.

There's too much smoke in the air-- do it yourself.

The beast coughed again. She sighed and pocketed the stone. She glanced around to see if anyone had seen what had just happened. She approached the man and found a chunk of rock that she could probably move.

((OoC: I'm sorry it took so long >.< the semester started and I got wrapped up in it - its short too: forgive me!))

There were people in life who held a certain darkness in them, a little smudge of whimsical desires that shoved them onto different paths; Vicereine was not one of those - her darkness was of a darker, singular kind. Emotions shut away, locked within the tight fist of control that held her in human form, with human face, human insides, the girl merely looked at the b*stard, the sludge that taunted her, provoked her - enjoyed her suffering.

Hide it, hide it; she knew control, though with it gone rampant, Vicereine was loathe to keep them away, gone. She was cold - so many different kinds of cold. Fingers clenching together as she stood, she turned her dark gaze on him, on Shadow who grinned with that malignant twist of his lips. The grey descended on her, so fitting with the dulled metal that intertwined beneath her feet, above her had like sickly intestines; she was in a fortress of metal, of grey. Her smile wasn't pleasant - it was a cruel little twist of the corner of her lip, nothing to do with anything but her stray, wandering thoughts. Stupid girl.

His words were like a lash, muted now. She heard them, felt them tumble off of her skin like hail. Vicereine would not give in, would not let her emotions go, would not let herself please him. "Why?" she asked, her voice low, her eyes unwavering.

"What stubbornness." He frowned. he felt like he was so close to bringing her to it, to getting her to let that rage out.

"Because, you're no use to me as you currently are. I must strip that pitiful remorse from you. And besides, if you don't stab me..." he drew his crystalline blade once more and brandished it a few times. "I'll cut you down!!!!"

(OoC: Figured it couldn't hurt, though its obviously inactive.)

He had misjudged her if he thought that simple threats would be the end of her control. She was gutterscum; she had nothing to live for but for living itself. In contrast to the bright gleaming red that shined like sharpened rubies in his eyes, her own were dark - an intensity there as if by mere force of will she could still time. Fingers scraping along the metal of the floor before she gathered her strength and rose. The frown that narrowed her face, put lines across her mouth and eyes, drawing her eyebrows closer together.

"As far as I can tell, you're the one that needs me to be your puppet." Her shoulders straightened, muscles pulling taut as she stretched them. Each newly sewn, the fleeting thought of immortality passed through her eyes and fluttered away. Bones cracked, the knots in her spine unhinging in a release of pressure and air that sent cool shivers down her skin. An intense cold seemed to eminate, distracting her - obvious in the way her eyes seemed to lose their focus. Was she completely going insane? No - even she had to admit there was only stupidity and an endless longing in her. No insanity, not yet anyway.

Most importantly was Shadow - the danger that openly threatened to 'cut her down' - eyes narrowed to slits as she regarded him. Angry, it was blatantly obvious this man (if he was even a man) resided in a world of his own machinations. His eyes told a similar story, hard as the steel that would cut her down. Yet there was a passion there. Yes, he enjoyed watching others fall before him in death. He was seeking a challenge amongst all of his other incomprehensible desires. Vicereine blinked, a momentary thing as she curled the listless locks of hair behind her ear. She felt clearly exposed in front of him, with the weighty reminder of his threat in the very presence of his weaponry. Yet... yet. She did not feel particularly frightened by him, and that alone was enough to worry her.

"What is it you want me to do?" As it was, she had been dragged about on this crazy trip, ignored for the most part (and gladly). Yet she did not like it. Yes, she clearly remembered the fires of those pyres burning the lepers, and her own fate that road would have led to. She was not stupid, despite her outward obliviousness. Clever with her fingers and with a blade, but not really a thinker, for certain, but to see the obvious signs of her current road ended in tragedy were not difficult to discern, even to one such as her. She was what they would classify as 'other'. She was strange. Disgust curled her lip, even as she raised her chin in defiance. Let them come then. Though it was not where she would have wanted to be, it wasn't as if she wanted to go anywhere, anyway.

If she were to be honest with herself, she would admit that although she craved to be alone, and to put her feet to the ground and flee, she almost loathed solitude as much as she loathed this manipulation. Delusional, Vicereine wondered if she could flee this world and return to the one in which she had been snatched originally if she offered her usefulness. Whatever usefulness he had in mind for her. Then again, she mused, critically looking him over, he could be all mouth. Perhaps it was just another ploy.
