i'm also terrible at making wings, so i've been trying to find new ways of doing it >.> its not working but kinda fun to just f*ck around anyway

this one was done a week ago though, but its the same idea.

-- i have a thing for cats -.-
i've been f*cking around with the idea that texture makes what would otherwise look surreal into something that has the potential to look a little more real, if still rather fictional in nature (obviously).

anyone in particular good with wings? suggestions are wonderful -.- i just started to play with CS2 two months ago (i had been using photoimpact pro)

I have no graphic design experience, but I can say that the wings in the second one look more natural. The first, due I believe to the shadowy setting, are hard to decipher in the way you create them. The second one would be perfect if you could just blend where cat meets wing a little more, or add something there to make it a little more natural.

I still think they look neat... though Roger does have a point.

What made you switch from PhotoImpact Pro?

it was actually forced on me.

photoimpact was on my own personal laptop, but when you come to my school, you pay for a laptop of your own, so i had two, and had to keep transferring pictures and whatnot, which grew to be very irritating but i'm stubborn enough that i didn't want to let go of it. then a friend sent me CS2 for the school laptop and i didn't really touch it until i left my old laptop at home. so i was bored and started to fiddle with cs2 and grew to like it.

it has more freedom in it. the filters will be the same no matter what program you get, but you have the ability to be more creative with it. in photoimpact the filters while varied, were more difficult to figure out. so things looked different.

though what i miss most is the framing; i still haven't figured it out on CS2 -.-

________

as for your suggestion, i'm going to try fiddling with it and post up the new one to see if that's what you meant.

How much do you have to pay for the laptop? Is it a rental? What kind of class are you in?

its not a rental, they supply the technology and you buy it. i had had the choice to just get the necessary programs for my old laptop but it ended up being about the same cost.

the actual cost o.O that's a good question, Brian might know. when faced with a shitload of money i'm going to be indebted with, i tend to just stack it all together >.<

as for classes i'm not taking any computer oriented classes - i'm an english major. lol

Nice lighting effects. o.o I like the cats with wings concept too. Brings to mind some scary scenes for their prey....

Off topic (somewhat), but I love your new sig banner. Showing support for RP characters is something I am quite familiar with, stongue.gif. I was expecting some green though, XD.

honestly ... me too .__.

it was really whimsical, but i was having enough trouble with the eye itself trying to get it to my eye color ... and the skin tone wasn't working at all so i just picked a color that worked. oddly enough, it DID have some green but it looked so bad i chucked the idea. i plan on fiddling a lot with the idea. xD
___

btw i tried twice to make it look more natural but since its hard (for me at least) to edit pictures that have already been saved as a jpg -- i was a little hasty and didn't save it as a photoshop doc so its really a flat image and i can't fiddle as much as i normally do. i'm in the midst of trying to replicate the picture with a more natural look though. when i have time. ick. lol

__

would this be better, you think?

Hmm. O_o Both are pretty good. Depending on color preference I could pick either one, but I think this newer one looks a tad more realistic.

I think the second one looks more realistic, but prefer the one that is your sig now exactly for its non-realism; I think it lends itself to an RP-based banner.

Nice wings. I'm not much of a cat person though, maybe if you did it with a bear, or something like that.

Second one looks a lot better anyway, the big white spot on the first one kind of distracts seeing the wing.

i'm not so sure about that. i tried the whole bear perspective since you have mentioned it, and ... (its probably my skill, rather, lack of) but it didn't look too nice. then again, i am biased.
