I'm installing it now. I only have two partition choices:

Guided - use entire disk
Manual

I don't want the first option because I want to keep my windows. I think I"m supposed to have another option: "Guided resize and use freed space", but I don't see it.

If I choose manual, I get settings I don't understand. Anyone know how to do this?

edit1: I'd like to be able to share all the files on my hd between both OS.

edit2: using manual, i tried creating new partitions, but it wouldn't let me select ntfs (windows). i'm worried that i'll erase everything, so i'm gonna use my D Drive for it. I already backed up everything important, so i guess we shall see.

You can mount the windows drive. Ubuntu has ntfs drivers. Just create a 15g ext3 partition and a 2g swap partition.

It means making the drive available for use by the OS you're using (Ubuntu)

It seems like you've got a handle on it now, but take a look at this relatively simple article written for the community: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WindowsDualBoot

I was reading a similar article; the problem I had was that I wasn't given the option to automatically partition. That's what confused me -_-
