The worst financial crisis since the Great Depression is claiming another casualty: American-style capitalism.
This Story

Since the 1930s, U.S. banks were the flagships of American economic might, and emulation by other nations of the fiercely free-market financial system in the United States was expected and encouraged. But the market turmoil that is draining the nation's wealth and has upended Wall Street now threatens to put the banks at the heart of the U.S. financial system at least partly in the hands of the government.

Maybe we'll go to socialism. Sweet. We'll be just like Europe and Canada.

Wait...we might as well just move there.

Yeah, that works.

I love the Republican rednecks who complain about a socialist president. So ignorant. So redneck. So... devastating to have them as fellow citizens.

I don't believe in changing a country so much; if you think there's a better country out there, then move.

When enough people agree on a change, they can start a new country.

>_< how can they even dare to compare this to the great depression??? its my understanding that as long as there's some growth, its not recession. and there's still SOME growth.

Do you WANT to live there? Desert covers the north, malaria-full forests the middle, and some more searing-hot deserts to the south?

What exactly is the world gonna do? Slaughter millions of people who want their own country?

If I recall correctly, the world takes the side of whoever wants to increase the number of countries. When Germany wanted to combine all of Europe to one country, a world war was started. When Japan wanted to combine asia into one country, they fought against it. When Britain wanted to combine countries all over the world, the world fought against it.

And in case you misunderstood, I'm not talking about America conquering a nation; I'm talking about a group of people without a national and cultural identity creating a small country from a larger landmass. Like how Pakistan was formed from India. Or how Liberia was founded by Americans under Monroe.

I'm surprised that the liberal Al would be trying to repress people who simply want to express their cultural identity and have their own nation. I suppose he's against the creation of Palestine, too, eh? I can't wait to see what selfish country you want to side with next; maybe Israel?

I want to go xD

And I don't think our financial situation is quite as dramatic as that article stated. Bit of an overreaction, isn't it?

I love the wise-ass self-righteous morons who champion socialism despite it's nearly universal unsuccessful application. So ignorant... so aggravating to have them as an outspoken minority, even amongst their own party. :)

Besides all that, if we had a true Conservative/Libertarian president you wouldn't stop whining about how detrimental they are for America. "Heya kettle! I'm pot, nice to meet you"

I'm waiting for that true conservative. Bush to me isn't at all. He's just stuck in his wet dream thinking that he lives the definition, when in reality, he's just a dumbass.

The socialist application that I vouch for does not ask for complete changing of the system. Tell me how American capitalism has benefited you in particular. While CEOs from various companies take home millions in severance pay, executives at AIG are partying your tax dollars away, and while the stock markets fall, its this greed that's hurting you. Of course, unless you are like McCain, and you own seven homes and a ton more cars, this doesn't apply.

Good, you've mastered the art of being specific.
