I love writing prose work and role playing, but I'm a terrible poet, and in tern a terrible song writer. Which sucks cause I love music so much. I've resigned to work on my poetic skills, but until then, I have to have some songs for my fledgeling band to do anything productive. So I need some song donations. Anyone have a song or poem they think I could adapt for my band to play? We have a kind of sound that's like a cross beteen Jazz and Soft Rock.

well, I can write for guitar, and I can give you the notes for vocals, but I don't write lyrics. Don't know if I can help at all. You really should give more info, like, your guy on guitar, is he good. Does your vocalist take lessons on singing, or just sing how he sings? The dude on bass, can he play it like a guitar, or does he just do bass lines? What are your influences?

Well, I can write music myself, so all I need are lyrics. Our influence tends to be love and anything dealing with it: happiness in love, complications, loss of love, making love, and the like. We also love songs that have epic sounds like war ballots and operas. (I LOOOVE singing Operas.) The band consists of myself as front man, (Lead Vocalist) a pianist, a guitarist, and a French Horn player. I take lessons and can sing whatever I want to except REALLY heavy metal, for fear of nogils, so don't worry about me. The guitarist is very good-- been playing for years. The pianist is the least of my worries. The horn player has a degree in music and is rather epic. He also plays cello-bass if we aren't in need of that epic French Horn sound. Overall, we have a lot of skill and talent, but we don't write songs well. We'll probably hire a song writer until we can develop more poetic creativity.

I can help if you'd like. I'm a writer by trade (going to school for it, among other things). I don't really have any poetry that I'd be willing to give away right now, but I might be able to go off of what themes you've provided and work with it

not a problem -- just be sure to give credit where it's due if you get famous >_>

Will do. But if you're worried about that, include your name so I can put it in the credits for any CD with a song you wrote on it. stongue.gif

Oh, damn, I was hoping you'd need someone to write music.

Nevermind.

Oh, cool. I'll see what I can do. I do have my own musical projects I'm pretending to work on, so if I donate anything, I'll try to make sure it's not too bad.

So vocals, guitar, piano (is that keyboard, or just a normal piano?), and French horn? That's easily doable, I just need to know what the normal range on a French horn is.

It goes from G two octaves below middle C to F one octave above middle C. And the piano is a baby grand, but she has a keyboard too. She whips it out if we need to lay two tracks over each other.

Ok. I'm much more familiar with piano/keyboard, it was more or less, if and organ setting is possible, that would have to be written differently than a normal piano, I just don't want to make too many assumptions. you know what happens when you assume...
