Here's how the game works, the first person to get the correct anwser to a puzzle gets to post thier own. If the puzzle remains unanwsered for a week, that person wins.

I'll start first with a really easy one, just to get it moving.

3 guys go into a hotel, and each chip in 10$ for a single room. They go up to the room, and the guy who took the money realizes that the room is only 25$ a night. He sends a cleaning woman up to return the 5$. Now, she knows that the guys have no idea how much money they should be getting back, so she takes 2$ out and gives the 3 guys back 3$. They split it up evenly. So, each guy first spent 10$, and then got 1$ back, so they each spent 9$ total. The cleaning lady has 2$. 9x3=27, plus 2=29. There was 30 originally. Where's the extra dollar.

I figured out why I couldn't get it.  I was thinking about modern lightbulbs.  This puzzle is probably older than that, and the light bulb in it is probably an old fashioned on.  They got hot when they were on for a wile.

Also, I was thinking along the lines of proving that the switches affected the light, and that there wasn't a fourth switch.
So, go in, turn all switches off, wait for hours.

Then, Flick the first switch on.  Wait an hour, flick the second switch on.  Now run over to the other side.  Grab the lightbulb.  If it is on and hot, it was the first switch.  If it is on and cold, it is the second switch.  If it is off, it is the third switch.
You know, it would be possible with 4 switches.
*

Well, all light bulbs give off heat, even modern ones, it's actually impossible to make one that doesn't. Anyway, you're correct. Your turn.

I don't really time for a hard one right now, but the next time I post one, I'll make sure it's better.

You have 5 cats, and a bridge, and the goal is to get all the cats on the far side. On each side of the bridge is an island, being 15 feet in diameter. The bridge connects with the very end of each island.

Here's your cats

1. The first cat likes you so much it fallows you around wherever you go.
2. The second cat is an a*shole, and will run away from you if you get within 10 feet.
3. The third cat doesnt move. He is so fat it takes both arms to carry him.
4. The fourth cat is an a*shole too, but his problem is with the 2nd cat. If they are left unattended, they will fight. He has no problem with you though.
5. The fifth cat will try to kill the 3rd cat if left unattended, but other than that, is fine.

I'll take a guess, but there are far too many unanswered variables -

Grab cat #5 and #4 by the scruff of their neck, one in each hand, and take them across the bridge. #1 will follow you, #2 and #3 will stay put.
Drop #5 and #4 off on the island, travel back over the bridge. #1 will follow you.
Pick up #3 with both arms, and walk behind #2. Keep cornering #2 until his only escape is across the bridge.
Walk across the bridge. #2 will run onto the second island, you will carry #3 and #1 will follow you.

Is that it?

When you chase number 2 accross, number 4 rips him up. None of the cats can fight, and if you are not on the same island with fighting cats, they fight.

Grab cat 4, takeit across the bridge. #1 will follow you. After you leave, #5 will kill number 3. You need to chase #2 across the bridge. After you get there, #4 will kill # 2. Then go back, get cat #5, cat #1 will follow you. When you get halfway across the bridge, take cat #1 and punt him over the side. Then take cat 5 the rest of the way across. So now you have cat #4 and #5. Tie their tails together, and throw them over power lines.

Um.......no, that's not what you do to kitties. You ever wonder if you might have problems up there in your head?

Ah, I must have misinterpreted the puzzle.

Carry cat 3 across the bridge, while chasing cat 2. Leave them both on the other side, and go back for #4 and 5. #1 will follow you all the while, so they'll all be across.

Meh, I was going on the presumtion that I am fast enough to get between them. Even though it is a puzzle, it is still real life. I have the time to do it all, hell if it was real I would just lift up 3, grab #4 with my fingertips, walk with 1 following me, shuffle 5 with my feet and let 2 run himself onto the island.

Cat 3 is like 300 pounds.....that help. Also, the cats that attack other ones have razor blades attached to their claws. You have to insure te fight never starts, by being on the same island as them.

Steal the razor blades off the cats, use it to chop #3 into 3 smaller pieces, carry them all in your arms?

Ok, my puzzle sucked. I am just going to give you the anwsers. Scare cat 2 onto the bridge without leaving the first island. Pick up cat 3, and cat one will fallow you. Put cat 3 on the other side, and while you are doing that, cat 2 will go to the other side too, because he wants to get away from you. Then come back, empty handed, and grab the last two cats. Bring them over. That's the solution.

Someone else put a puzzle up.

Alright, 4 men have to cross a bridge. Up to two can cross at the same time. It's dark, so they need a flashlight, and there is only one. It has 17 minutes of battery left.

If two people travel, they must travel together, since they must stay with the flashlight (thus a pair of two together can only go as fast as the slower person).

One person takes one minute to cross.
One person takes two minutes to cross.
One person takes five minutes to cross.
One person takes ten minutes to cross.

How do they get across before the 17 minutes are up?

10 minute guy gets the flashlight, and uses it to light the path for the other guys as they are running accross, wile he is going accros himself. It can be done in 10 minutes. The last guy to cross over is the ten minute guy.
