It's pretty simple. We're playing card games by posting our moves. It doesn't have to be just one-on-one-- we can get a multi going if enough people want to. The beauty of this kind of play is that you can test a deck that you maybe don't have all the cards for. Hell, we can't see you. stongue.gif By the same token, be honest about your moves. Here's a sample format for posts:

Magic: the Gathering:

UUD (Untap, Upkeep, Draw) or UU if you're going first (Untap, Upkeep)

Main phase (Sorcery-speed spellsand abilities and a single land drop) and Combat step. If you think your opponent might have a response to your attack, ask them. Same goes for spells you play that might change the game.

Then give a status report, like so:

Q (Untapped permanents):
T (Tapped perms):
C (Number of Cards in your hand):
L (Current life total):
RFG (Cards you own that are removed from game, if applicable):

End the turn. Most say what they say in real life. For example some might say "You're up," or simply "Go."

You have to have a target for the graverobber to burn. It's still a graverobber. I'll assume you still attacked, cause I don't have anything for it as of now. Cool?

UUD

Um, way off on that ruling. I've checked this with a DCI judge, the card only flips if there are no cards are in the graveyard WHEN it is resolved. It doesn't say, "Remove target card in an opponant's graveyard from the game, THEN if there are no cards in that graveyard, flip nezumi graverobber." Its a multi-part effect, with the outcomes of the effect listed for each possible circumstance. That's why the two sentences are separated by a period, not a comma, like is common on other cards. The effect is not fizzled when it doesn't have a target. When there is no targets, the target of the spell becomes the graverobber itself.

So now, to the meat of my turn.

untap, draw.

Main one,

I play the card I drew, a swamp

Attrition for 3, it's an old ass enchantment out of the urza block that allows me to sac one of my creatures to destroy any non-black creature. Not particularly useful, but it's better than what else I have in my hand.

I attack for another 4, then end my turn.

3 cards in my hand, one untapped land.

You're right about what you said about the resolution, but that's not the error. The comprehensive rules of Magic say that before you can use an activated ability or cast a spell that requires a "target," there must be a legal choice for a target. From Gatherer:

QUOTE (Wizards of the Coast)
(1)(B): Remove target card in an opponent's graveyard from the game. If no cards are in that graveyard, flip Nezumi Graverobber.

There were no cards in my, your opponent's, graveyard, therefor you could not have activated the ability. That might change your play, so I won't post my turn.

Ok, I went and looked it up in the oricle, and surprise surprise, they didn't say anything about it one way or the other. Then, I randomly googled around. Found a few places that have the same oppinion as you.

So, I will change contesting your ruleing if I can redo my last turn, because I had a ravenous rat in my hand anyways, so, what the hell. I might have argued it if I really felt it mattered, but I am either way about it.

you discard one, my rat flips, hits for 4, and 6 total, because the last turn he was just a normal rat.

same number of cards in my hand as before, just the attrition is in there instead of my ravonous rat.

I have a response to the Ravenous Rats. I'll play Bant Charm, putting your Graverobber on the bottom of your library. Afterward, if you have no responses, Rats resolves and I pitch Shriekmaw.

UUD

Sunken Ruins, filter for two W, play Kitchen Finks which gain me 2.

Good play. I had to look up that ability, never heard of it before. It gets around my burry spells.

Untap, draw. I am getting mana flooded. Tempted to cheat and redraw, not like you would know, anyways.

Main one,

Play that stupid land, up to five of them, all swamps (I don't use special lands, I am old school.)

Black market, for 5.

End my turn. 5 lands all tapped, 2 cards in my hand, one of which you know what it is, and the other sucks, and mana flooded with 5 lands on turn 5, in a rat deck.

My rat takes one for the team. One charge counter on black market.

My turn.

Untap, draw. 3 cards in hand. 1 mana in my mana pool. Got a slagworm armor unattached to anything, forgot to say that a few times, but it's not important.

Labrats with buyback (5 total), that's a 1/1 token, into play.

One land untapped, 3 cards in hand. You now know 2 of them, lol.

I'm going to counter Lab Rats with Negate. That's a killer combo, btw. Black Market and Lab Rats as fodder for it, eventually paying for the use of Lab Rats. Very old school awesome combo.

UUD

Play yet another Reflecting pool. Play Horde of Notions and swing with the team

It gets better with labrats and a crypt rat with a slagworm armor on it. Also, why a negate when you could just use a counterspell?

untap, draw, 3 cards again, you only know one, lol. One mana on my black market.

2 swamps tapped for crypt rat, equip the armor on him for a 1 of 7.

Tapped out.

I'm playing Standard, and they stopped printing Counterspell cause it was flat out the best counterspell for duals. They wanted more room to make counterspells that people wont say "Why not just use Counterspell?" at. But, they compensated for dropping Counterspell by creating Cryptic Command.

UUD

Swing with the team, responses?

Block the smaller one, unless I don't have the life points to do that. What does that leave me at?

Anyways, crypt rat for one, one damage to both of us, and all the creatures, killing the fink, though it comes right back. It gives me one more mana token on my black market.

My turn starts.

Two charge counters on black market

Untap, draw., 3 cards in my hand now.

Play land I drew, 6 lands total.

Tap 4 lands, Urza's armor, I have 4 in this deck, same as the crypt rats, lol.

2 lands untapped, and i have a crypt rat with a slagworm armor on it.

That brings my black market up to 5, as your your two creatures get killed, and my crypt rat get killed. Your fink though, an incredibly hard creature to get rid of when you arn't using new cards, remains, even though he was killed twice in one turn.
Play the land 6 total
My turn instead goes, play the urza's armor by tapping one land,
Then, 3 more to get my attrition out.

Now I am hellbent

2 untapped lands. And hoping to draw something good next turn, because if you attack, and I draw a land, it's over.

Well, Kitchen Finks is actually dead. It dies once, and comes back with a -1/-1 counter and is a 2/1, gaining me 2. Then it dies to WoG and doesn't come back because it had a counter on it.
