Yeah, I hate that it gets made fun of so much. There are a lot of clichés in it, but it is a very sweet, action-packed, twisted show. I think it relates more to kids with depression issues really, but there is a lot of humour and hope in it. It's easy to ridicule it, but I think if you sit down and watch it from the first episode without prejudice you might find it's quite good.
I know I "hated" it before I met Charlene, but now I can say I am a fan (after watching the whole series about 3 times over now

It is good for drama, but I think One Tree Hill is a little more "mature", if you hate the High School element of it. But The OC benefits from people not just sleeping around with each other, and some good, slow-building, realistic relationships. OTH is a bit unrealistic, but a bit more realistic at the same time. They both have their good and bad qualities, despite being very similar sounding, they are both quite different really.
