This can be separated up many ways -- reality, drama, mockumentary, crime shows. I will pick the best of out of that...

1) American Idol

2) CSI (Pick your city)/Bones/Cold Case

3) Survivor/Big Brother

4) The Office (Paper is in style -- in Scranton, PA anyway)

5) The Biggest Loser/Extreme Home Makeover (Inspirational Reality TV)

6) 24 (Jack Bauer for the win)

7) Desperate Housewives

8) Nip/Tuck (bringing surgery to network TV, albeit FX)

9) Mythbusters (Revival of Discovery Channel)

10) The Bachelor/ette (bringing fake love to network TV)

CSI Miami is terrible. And Bones isn't note worthy. I only watch that because of Angel.

It started the crime scene show fad though.

CSI and Bones are both ridiculous shows, same with Law & Order. But they are popular and influential.

I find myself watching Law and Order:sVU way too much, despite hating every facet of that show. On the bright side, they've managed to get me to sympathize with rapists.

More of a spite thing. I hate the detectives' characters, so I usually want to see them "lose" in a way.

Note for the slow: I don't sympathize with rapists in real life.

Almost any cop show pisses me off, because it always portrays cops as 100% honest and always doing the right thing. Which is far from the truth.

This is definitely true.

If you desire to see cops in their true state (sometimes), just go on YouTube and type in "police brutality"

Oh, I could go on forever about why I don't like them. Mainly I don't like the underlying theme that it's ok to encroach on someone's civil liberties in order to arrest someone, or the implication that having the right to an attorney during questioning is a bad thing. That and they're just a*sholes in general.

I might just post a rant at some point.

Do you think cops would be taken seriously if they talked to you like you did nothing?
