Yet more, upon endless, evidence, that the Chinese have absolutely no respect for life, treating living creatures like squirming novelties for their amusement or smug notions of upper-class superiority:

It's not hard to find hundreds of other articles detailing similar phenomena throughout East Asia, specifically China.

Please educate yourself on Chinese history and return to this debate afterwards.  I don't think you'll understand China today without looking back first.

Please leave the country and understand that everyone does not subscribe to your Judeo-Christian values.

Stop bringing my religious beliefs into an argument about culture.

Again, go look up the definition of culture and stop wasting my time with your arguments which are clearly biased and based on emotion.

No, actually. Just because I'm used to the way culture operates in the U.S. , doesn't mean that I swear some allegiance to it. It's common sense to take care of your environment. It's common sense not to wipe entire species off the face of the planet. It's common sense to try your best to preserve eco systems. The human race's survival depends upon it. Other countries have caught onto that. It has nothing to do with culture, as you suggest, and as you continuously try to dismiss every illogical and destructive act with. It has to do with having the wisdom to know better, or at least the knowledge of what the penalties are for destroying your environment. This is why I claim that you haven't any clue at all as to what culture actually is. Being irresponsible and destructive has nothing to do with culture and everything to do with being irresponsible and destructive.

Here is, in a nutshell, the fault of your argument -

Jodi comes on and complains about how the Chinese destroy their environment, wipe the land clean of all natural resources, and torture animals. You claim that it's alright for them to do that because it's their "culture". Compare that with this:

Jodi comes on and complains about how the Germans persecuted the Jews, blacks, homosexuals, gypsies, and any people with deformities. You claim that it's alright for them to do that because it's their "culture".

It's the same thing. You might argue that what the Germans did is heinous and inhumane, but if you're willing to argue that Jodi's complaints are unwarranted because it's just the way the Chinese culture is, then you have to be willing to stand by that argument no matter what the situation is. Like it or not.

Sure, most species of shark are on the brink of extinction, and shark finning involves cutting the fins off live sharks and throwing them back into the ocean, but...it's just "cultural differences" that racist Americans refuse to tolerate, right? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/05/07/s...o_n_858915.html
