I know some of you may have a vested interest to vote a certain way stongue.gif but which do you think is better?

In my opinion, forums have always been the best medium. They beat chat rooms in their day and they will outlive "web 2.0".

Conversations can last years. You don't need to be online at the same time as your friends. You can be yourself or you can be anonymous. There is depth of conversation that you don't get on Social Networks, which to me are rather shallow in comparison. They have their place in getting information out quickly and widely, so each has a positive, but to me forums are simply better.

Your thoughts?

They serve different purposes. Social networks are for people you know through real life IMO—your classmates, buddies from work, some acquaintances, etc.

In contrast, forums are a discussion location for people who have similar interests who somehow find each other, like through Origin. So I see a purpose to both Origin and Facebook, although it's true that Origin used to serve a social role too, which has now been absorbed into Facebook.
