Name: Final Fantasy IX
Genre: RPG
Release Date: 2000
Created by: Squaresoft
ESRB Rating: T (For Teen)

Overview:

Final Fantasy IX (or 9, to those poor souls who could never quite grasp roman numerals way back in the days of school) follows the good ol' days of RPG gaming, while implementing the best elements of all the newer RPGs (up until it's release, of course). This, of course, is what first caught my interest. Once I started playing it, however, I became fascinated by the advances of CG movies and overall enjoyability of gameplay.

Graphics - 9/10

Simply put, there's absolutely nothing wrong with the graphics. The CG's were great, and the actual game followed suit. Of course, there was no real earthshatteringly new and extraordinary graphics, which knocked it down a bit.

Sound - 10/10

Final Fantasy IX's music and sound were both simply fascinating! The only game that rivals this in sound is the one and only Chrono Cross, but FF9 still shatters through. The music alone can give this game good reviews.

Gameplay - 10/10

Much like other the other Final Fantasies, IX is traditionally turn-based RPG wholesome goodness Throw in a bit of ATB, mix in a dash of fun mini-games, stir in a wicked ability system, and you've got yourself some home-style gameplay worthy of the big city.

Replay - 7/10

Being an RPG, it would seem IX doesn't have a good replay value, but Square once again manages to pull off the impossible. Complete with different difficulties you can choose from (based off of your style of learning abilities), and the option of playing again to receive special bonuses, you're better off giving this game another shot.

Overall - 9/10

Well, to put this frankly, this is quite possibly the best game I've ever played. It's not often I find a game I am so passionate about, but when I do, it's guaranteed to be a hit. If you don't own a copy of Final Fantasy IX, crawl out of your cave and get it.
