i think i have decided to try HTML...ill start it off then if everything goes well i will stick to it...flash mx can use actionscript or javscript i found out...anyways...i'm going to do HTML then maby PHP

HTML is very good an easy. Get a Geocities account, go to the file manager, make a new page, call it "link.html" and type this

CODE
<html>
<head>
<title>I Can Code</title>
</head>
<body>
<a href="http://phprulez.3kd.net/forums">Origin Forums</a>
</body>
</html>

And thats you made your first HTML page.

the <html> and </html> tags have opened an html page and closed it, the <head> and </head> tags are where you store any information which wont be shown on the main page, in this case the <title> tags to make a title up the top (ie we have "Origin RPG Forums"), in your case all the way up THERE will say "I Can Code".

Then between the <body> tags is where the main page will be. Yours should have nothing but the words "Origin Forums" when you save it and view it. This is a link, as shown by the <a> and </a> tags.

Now within tags you can store additional information. In this case the <a> tag includes where the link is linking to, the HREF= part. In this case HREF equals phprulez.3kd.net etc, so it will link here. You can store many addition things within the <a> tag such as;

<a target="right">

Which would make the link load in a frame you called "Right" (you'll understand if/when you learn to use frames.

Now as you progress you will learn many new tags and many things to include in these tags, but the <a> and <img> tags should be the very first few you learn (after <html> <head> and <body> of course). I made a very snazzy website using just these 5 tags years ago, and got praise from very advanced Webmasters for how neat it looked.

Happy coding ssmile.gif

{PS grand, DHTML is Dynamic HTML, MARK UP language, not JavaSCRIPT, SCRIPTING language. Durrrrrrrrrrrrr}

Really, because Dynamic Hyper Text Markup Language would lead me to believe otherwise o.0

It's really funny then how I was reading a book about it in a library one day, and it was all in HTML, and how it saved as .dhtml and not as .js. Isn't that funny Grand? Doesn't it just make you laugh out loud?

DHTML is typically used to describe the combination of HTML, CSS, and Java script that allows documents to be animated.

And if you look, it uses a little CSS, a little JavaSCRIPT, but it all takes part within an HTML document, hence it is a Script/Mark-up hybrid, so we're both kinda right, although I just proved it isn't JUST JS. stongue.gif I win, you lose, go back to sleep.

The quote is correct. That was what I KINDA meant. DHTML is basically using JS to manipulate CSS and HTML. And because JS is the backbone of manipulation, the JS is the most important part of DHTML (Just about all of it.) Thus why I said DHTML is just JS

But its not though. Its called Dynamic HTML because it is an HTML page which has been manipulated by JS and CSS. ITS AN HTML PAGE. Thus its more HTML than JS or CSS. Albeit on any given DHTML page there may be a higher % of JS than HTML, BUT it is still an HTML page whatever way you look at it, thus I conclude it is a manipulation of HTML, but still more HTML than JS.

*bows*

But I concede, it is not purely Mark Up, it is a hybrid of the two (I know it has its own name but I forgot it bigeyes.gif)

Fine, yes it's a hybrid... But JS is the one used for the manipulation. But anyways, have you ever noticed everytime we argue we decide in the end that both of us are correct in our own thoughts? lol

But back on topic, WW did you start yet?
