I'll admit that I've grown proud of New York lately. Any state that keeps their scale around 50-50 is my kinda state.

Rush is raucous and crude sometimes, but he has some keen insight. It just happens that the deliverance of that insight is rather obnoxious.

Glenn Beck is the opposite of insane. He lays things out and explains things extremely well and has a very level head despite how he chides himself all the time. He always points out what IS insane.

QUOTE
Been watching Beck and O'Reilly lately?

(not to be snide or anything, just observing "common sense" and "pinhead")

I keep up with both shows. I didn't use the words to intentionally signal those personalities, but I value the analysis of both men. I feel that O'Reilly is very fair and doesn't let partisans spin things to fit their world view. He tells it like it is. Beck however, is very bias, but he is bias in the way everyone should be. He is a true blue American and values the characteristics of our Founders. I feel the same way about America, so naturally I enjoy his show.

I like you. ssmile.gif

I've gotten tired of commenting on Obama's administration whenever Chicago politics rears its ugly head (ie, everytime he or one of his staff/ cabinet opens their mouths), so I won't make a substantive argument. Until he gains some real American common sense and stops being a pinhead, you all know my opinion on his policies (However, if I agree with him, I'll say something.)

Blue states, you also get New Jersey, the state with the highest taxes, and California, one few states to come anywhere close to insolvency (Another being New York, solidly blue). You also get most of the corrupt politicians and Chicago (Those are almost the same). You also get deficit spending, Michael Moore, and Nancy Pelosi. Good luck with all that and the whole "not spending yourself into oblivion" tug-o-war.

Good ridance,
Someone with some common sense.

My question is, what if we did both.....strictly regulated our government, but still allowed it to have the power to act quickly and powerfully?

Have you ever heard of imcrementallism? On July 4 of 1776, we tried to make a country in which the government does well. It's simply impossible, so we set up a document to stifle their seizure of power and allow the system to work them out of office. But our loving representatives ignore the Constitution to furher their own agendas. Humans wan't power, so they'll take it if hey can, and that's the end of it.

It gives FAIR distribution of wealth. There's a difference. Government controls capital, so that everything made and ever job created is for the benefit of the people.

That's a contradiction. Government never does a good job in the long run. Name a government that survived with a powerful central government? There isn't one. If a country is to trully last, it's people must run its economy and it's government, and strictly regulate the respresentatives.

I really like this sequence. Also, I love when the simple facts about communism make it aweful right in front of the eyes of its follower.

For the record, "small businesses" employ the vast majority of people in this free market economy. Small stores are far more economical than large stores because it forces large-scale competition that drives prices down. Capitalism is simply the best economic system to date.

I've never seen a janitor wax a floor manually in my life. They use a waxing machine to apply the wax and also to remove it. It takes about an hour per floor. I personally know janitors that work in highschools. The hardest part about being a janitor is the hours, and they'll tell you that. If you aren't a night person, tough cookies.

When you say cart jockey, you mean at a super market? You should work at Wlamart. They have a machine that does that for you. You just have to round them up and steer it.

That is a correct assessment. Freedom is fundamentally tied to rights. As long as another's rights are not infringed upon, one should be free to do as one pleases. Having said that, laws that prohibit the consumption or possession of marijuana, the act of suicide, or other things within the realm of "victimless crimes" are fundamentally wrongheaded.

Also, I find it interesting that anyone who shares your views thinks for themselves. I would like to say I think for myself. I don't blindly fallow the constitution, or blindly accept the correctness of the document, which I believe is fundimentally flawed. That's pretty free thinking. Find another person who will say that. It's pretty radical, if I do say so myself, lol.

President Obama believes the Constitution is flawed. So does Dubya and a plethora of our current "representatives".

I don't think people who disagree with me are brainwashed per se. I know that there is a conscious effort by hyperliberal, very radical "educators" to make as many people community organizers as they can. That has little to do with this conversation.

This has been stated already, but the Elastic Clause does not provide legislators with the capability to make new powers. To be fair, most of our legislators think of the Constitution as a petty nuisance that must be avoided in order to seize more power.

Nazi's were both fascists and socialists. Read into the stae of Germany under Nazi domination and see what's wrong with socialism.

I'm aware of Keynesian economics from Highschool econ, but I have never read any of his writings. I agree with lightly midigating business cycles by making them shallow so as to avoid a major recessions, but I don't agree with printing money like crazy until it's worthless.

If radical means I have a burning desire to defend this country from criminal corruption, then I'm radical. That just mean your going to have to find a new description for people like Bill Ayers and Osama Bin Laden.

Bailouts, the Patriot Act (I shudder as the gross misuse of that word), Medicare Part D? No, I don't miss that liar. He was an aweful president with Progressive views on the role of government.

So uninformed. I bet you watch NBC, right? I guess that network would be dumb to cover the fact the GE (Their parent company) is in the tank for Obama and his ridiculous Cap and Trade legislation, which will make them TONS of money.

You alone are proof of the brainwashing done at Universities in this nation. Universities are swarming with Progressive zealots. Portland University has 3 conservative Professors, out of several hundred.

You can use comedy to make light of the issue, but it doesn't change the problem. I think a second, non-violent American Revolution is called for. There are too many evil people running this speeding train, and we the people must keep them from destroying the break lever. I think if the Amercan people fight back against the harshly bias media, the brainwashing Universities, and the corrupt politicians, the banes of liberty, this country can continue to be the single best on the planet.

They endorsed them firmly, though. Also, the Fed is printing money like Russia. Overall, the Federal Government as a whole is out of control and must be reigned in.

QUOTE (Jinghao @ Aug 29 2009, 08:03 PM)
Depends on what you consider "evil" and "necessary", or even what you consider to be the duties of the police.

Government is self-regulating. The Fed doesn't "regulate" the market. It directs it one way or another. Its goals are to moderate inflation and economic activity.
*

Self-regulating? Are you serious? Corrupt officials have been usurping power they shouldn't ever possess for years. That notion is simply poppycock.

Changing the direction of the market in and of itself is regulation. But of course, promoting high-risk loans and bailing out entire industries isn't regulation. Of course not.

Nobody runs for office to overthrow the system and seize power, rather, there is a legitimate disagreement between two political ideologies.

I believe this statement is fundamentally incorrect. Simply by seizing un-due power for the federal government, though it may not be their direct intention, they have already overthrown the system set out by our Founders. In fact, they (Progressives) have been slowly chipping away at the integrity of this country and its Constitution since the years of Teddy Roosevelt (The first major Progressive to seize power), as to remain unseen.

Also, fascism is not very vaguely defined. It's the political ideology that government must control the slovenly masses, though martial enforcement if necissary. Shutting down private sector internet is a shady way of easing fascist policies into peoples live very slowly, so that they do become desensitized and accept it. If it isn't stopped decisively, and those who promote it fired/voted out, liberty is in for a bumpy ride that may fundamentally and permantly change this Republic for the worse.

More fascism. Is it really a coincedence that the administration that has an avowed communist as a czar likes to grab power for the federal government?

And what's with this 'heart in the right place' garbage? Most politicians, the President vehemently included, just. want. more. power.

The Founders thought of Government as a necissary evil, not the national police. Government has to happen, but it should be heavily regulated. You know, the way the Fed regulates the free market?
